Nature
All three of these photos depicts nature in one way or another. The first picture is a landscape of the ocean with some greenery to the right of the photo. This photo is probably my favorite of the three. In terms of composition, I would say the first photo represents the rule of space. The right of the photo is filled with space, that being the grass area and the left side is filled with the negative space which is the water. Hopefully this photo accurately represents this type of composition. The second photo is another depiction of nature, this one containing trees. The tree to the right, it is also the closest, is in focus while everything else is the background. I would say that this photo also represents the rule of space. The filled space is to the right while the left area, the unfocused and the background. The third and final photo depicts a tree with land in the background. This photo obviously is of nature as it depicts a tree. For the composition, I would say this represents rule of thirds. If you cut this photo into a 3 by 3 grid, the tree would occupy each square. In photoshop these three photos are edited basically the same way. For each I set the brightness on auto and I upped the saturation for each. Overall I think these photos came out really well in my opinion. I think the colors are nice and the objects themselves in each photo are edited and focused properly. If I would change something, I would change the saturation for each. The top and second to top photos seem to have a little to much saturation.
Portraits
A portrait is a image depicting someone who is either posed or unposed. Usually the portrait is from the shoulders up, but a full shot of person would probably work as well. My photos are all portraits by definition. All three are of a single person(posed) and are from the shoulders and up. The top photo probably tells the viewer that she is being somewhat serious. While she is not smiling, she is not angry but rather being mature in a sense. The second photo will probably give the viewer the same feeling as the first. A difference in the first two however, is that the second one in more a mysterious photo rather than a serious one. The third picture tells the viewer that the subject is funny or maybe quirky in a way. It is definitely less serious than the first two. All three of these photos are posed. I guess the only reason they are posed is that I asked the subject if i could take their photo. After i asked them, they immediately went into some sort of pose. And if they see my camera, they would have probably gotten suspicious of what I was doing before I could take the shot. For the first photo, I can see the composition techniques of rule of thirds and line. If you were to make a grid, the subject would be in each box. The line the forms from the subject's arm placement kind of encloses her face forcing the viewer to focus on her face rather than anything else. The second photo contains rule of space and shape. For rule of space, half the photo is taken up by the subject while the other half is negative space. The grid in the background forms square shapes. For the final image, I used the rule of space technique. basically half the photo is taken up from the subject while the other half is empty. If it is a stretch using rule of space, I would replace it with the negative space technique. If I had to change something, I would probably change the color or brightness of the second and last photo. To me they seem rather dark.
Motion
The first two photos depict motion because they show liquid suspended in mid-air. The third photo is me waving my phone flash in front of my camera. For the first two photos I used a rather fast shutter speed at least compared to the third photo. The photo was created by changing the shutter speed to 10 and the ISO to 100. All of the photos were also shot with a pretty low aperture level. The first photo was shot using the rule of odds and the line techniques. It is rule of odds because there is only one main object and line because the faucet is moving towards the center of the photo. For the second photo, I used mostly the line technique showing the line that starts from the container moving all the way to glass. The third photo depicts the rule of thirds and the line technique. Rule of thirds becasue if the image would be set in a three by three grid, the light would be in each of them and line because the photo was taken only with one stream and source of light. For all three of these photos I basically up the contrast and made the photos black and white. The first photo depicts an aspect of my society showing how we are lucky that we have access to clean water while other society around the world do not. The second photo depicts a aspect of my life because I love chocolate milk and the liquid being poured is chocolate milk. The third photo shows how light(good) is at the center of darkness(evil), but as the photo shows, the light overpowers the evil. I thought the images came out pretty well. If I could change anything I would probably change the editing of the second image. Maybe edit that one with color.
Abstract
The first photo depicts clothes hangers. I have both black and white hangers so I thought I'd set them up in way that created a cool and abstract pattern. The second photo is a keyboard. The shapes on the keyboard created an interesting abstract photo and the third photo is just a wire that is set add shape. for the first photo I just got really close and zoomed in so that you couldn't really tell that it was hangers but just a cool pattern. I did the same thing for the second photo but rather than try to make the keyboard look less like a keyboard, I just focused on the shapes on the keyboard. For the third photo, I simply set the the wire in front of a white background. In Photoshop, I upped the contrast and saturation for the first image. I upped the contrast in the second image as well and I also decreased the brightness of the photo. The only thing I did for the third photo was that I upped the contrast. The first photo depicts the line technique and the simplification technique. The second photo depicts the simplification and shape technique and the third photo depicts simplification, shape and line technique. I think I share similarities with Imogen Cunningham because I saw him taking abstract photos. I didn't see anyone else with abstract photos. Overall I think my photos came out pretty well. If I could change anything I would proabably change the second photo to look like it wasn't a keyboard.
